Nicotine Addiction Center
The Nicotine Addiction Center at Mount Sinai Hospital offers smoking cessation programs designed to prepare and help people quit and remain smoke-free. The program is based on clinical research, educational principles as well as cognitive and behaviour modification psychology.

The Nicotine Addiction groups are dynamic, upbeat and emphasize patient participation and discussion. Group members learn about their addiction and habit, why they continue to smoke, and the benefits of quitting. In addition, they learn and practice effective strategies to overcome urges to break the addiction and habit of smoking. With better understanding, group support and a personalized plan, patients are better equipped to quit smoking and more likely to remain non-smokers.

In the hospital setting, health professionals with a wide range of specialties are available to assist patients with their individual concerns about quitting. Physicians can be consulted regarding nicotine replacement therapies while dieticians can address concerns about weight gain. Other professionals are also available to help in the quitting process.
