Mount Sinai Hospital Montreal provides outpatient services in the domains of Respiratory, Palliative and Long Term Care. Patients served in the Ambulatory program are typically referred by physicians and CLSCs practicing within proximity to the Hospital, while a number are follow-up patients from the in-house Respiratory Care unit.
The Ambulatory program also occasionally acts as an emergency care facility, equipped with standard diagnostic and emergency equipment. Upon arrival, patients may be assessed by a nurse and/or physician in the outpatient department or in the in-patient service, depending on the time of the day. Following the assessment, the patient will either be transferred to an appropriate hospital or referred to their personal physician, depending on the nature of the case.
The Ambulatory program also acts as a staff clinic during regular hours of operation. Emergency care is provided and employees are then referred to their personal physician.
