Religious Support

Mount Sinai Hospital not only addresses the physical well being of its patients, but also their spiritual needs. Members of the clergy offer on site religious support to all patients, with Chaplains, a Rabbi, a Catholic Priest and a Protestant Minister visiting patients on a weekly basis. Clergy members are also available for emergency and unscheduled visits.

The Hospital provides Shabbat services for Jewish patients on each floor. Every Friday afternoon, patients and family members welcome the arrival of the “Oneg Shabbat” cart, filled with Shabbat candles, wine and bread, all supplied by the Auxiliary.

Religious services are held for the major Jewish holidays, as well as Mass on Christmas and Easter. Patients can celebrate by taking part in special holiday dinners, and the Auxiliary provides patients with gifts and cards for the holidays, including Rosh Hashanah, Christmas, Passover, Easter and Chanukah.
